Independent UK fintech charity Pennies has been at the forefront of innovative giving since 2010. As the payment industry helps us all go cashless, the ability to drop a few pennies into a collection tin is disappearing. So Pennies, the digital charity box, has revived this easy, affordable and feel-good way of giving your small change a big purpose.
At participating retailers, enabled by payment technology providers, consumers can round-up or top-up a few digital pennies on the end of their card payments. It’s a frictionless way to make pennies count for good causes. The retailer selects the cause, and the choice to give is always the customer’s. Giving through Pennies is anonymous and secure, so there is no charity follow up. Pennies follows the donation, but not the donor.
In Pennies’ first five years it has enabled an incredible 27 million micro-donations, raising £6million+ for over 100 charities.
